Scotland’s water environment history is now accessible via the Internet. SEPA’s brand new Timeseries API exposes its archive of rain, river, groundwater, and tidal data, and also provides access to up-to-the-minute live observations.
First COVID, and then a debilitating cyber-attack have been overcome to deliver online open access to data that have been difficult to share in the interim, particularly in response to direct requests for Environmental Information.
Whilst being primarily targeted at ‘large volume’ data consumers, such as academia, environmental and engineering consultancies, and web developers, and requires computing skills to make full use of, it is open to anyone.
It's currently in beta and we're inviting reactions and feedback on the service and the documentation.
